Yellowstone Lake (of which is big) has recently been reaching temperature spikes of nearly two-hundred degrees! Many areas of Yellowstone have been closed down because the ground has become so hot that it's simply not safe, thus killing of thousands of trees and endangering if not killing off wildlife. At the end of 2007, president Bush ordered all USGS personal to send their findings directly to the white house first and not to speak or release any of their reports to the public first until the Whitehouse can sensor any alarming wording that would alarm the public!

Note: It goes without saying that Yellowstone is heating up as magma continues to move upwards towards the surface.  The land in and around Yellowstone Park has been steadily raising upwards, even pushing much of the water in Yellowstone lake to the opposite side of the lake.

Possibly you have read a local newspaper or heard a local news report that sheds some light on the current state of Yellowstone. (SPECIAL UPDATE FROM VBKS :) May 5, 2004 - We have written back to Mama J. asking for additional information such as why all the road closings. We can only speculate on a couple of reasons . (1) Ground temperatures in those regions have reached well over 200 degrees once again. (2) Poisonous gases commonly released from underground volcanic unrest/activity. 

We will post her response should there be any additional information.

(2) Any helpful information you have from your recent visit to Yellowstone Park in regards to the current state of Yellowstone, such as road closings, geyser closings,  or confirmation about the closing of Yellowstone National Park all together. We ask as an employee from Yellowstone stated there is talk among the workers about the possible closing of the entire park in 2004.

(3) What is the current death toll of the elk in the Yellowstone region and what is the cause?

(4) What new and/or old areas of Yellowstone park have ground temperatures of over two hundred degrees?

(5) Is the main Yellowstone lodge now closed?
